“thank you” pin campaign | November 2018

the campaign

"Thank you." Saying these two words is a habit we’re taught to have from a very young age and for most of us now, it’s a reflex. We thank strangers for holding open the door, we thank baristas for handing us our coffee, we thank the cashier for ringing up our items - but how often do we take the time to thank our family, friends, and other loved ones in our lives?

This campaign is about giving thanks to the people we appreciate in our lives. I'm guilty of not doing this enough as well, so I'm hoping this might give everyone the extra push to do so too. ☺️ My ultimate wish & goal is that we can all continue doing this even without the promise of something in return and long after the event is over. 💜

the logistics

The image outlines the logistics of how the campaign worked. In a perfect world I wouldn’t need any sort of documentation, but in order to conduct this campaign virtually, I asked participants to send a “thank you” message crafted however they liked to a family member, friend, etc. and then send a screenshot of that and the recipient’s response (if they were comfortable with sharing), while making sure to remind participants to censor out any personal/sensitive information. I also asked if they were comfortable with me sharing their submissions on social media - all responses below are from participants who were!

the inspiration

I truly respect and am inspired by how some people use the massive platform they have to spread wonderful messages that reach and help others all around the world. I may not have a large platform, but I want to do what I can with what I have. I’m thankful for so many things - and this pin community is one of them. Whether the participants keep the pin or give it to someone special, I hope the campaign’s message will ring loud and clear. 💜
